Charitable Efforts
Dallas Lodge No. 760 serves the surrounding community with multiple efforts. We provide scholarships to deserving college students each semester of their schooling, we partner with Carter Blood Care to host blood drives around the city, and offer “Breakfasts for Heroes” at the lodge which are free for police, fire, and paramedic professionals. We hold canned food drives for the North Texas Food Bank, partner with the Rotary Club of Dallas to help host and work the annual Bike Rodeo at the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and assemble dental kits in partnership with the Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas (MCFS) to distribute to local elementary schools. On top of these programs, we also provide other ways for brothers to assist in additional community efforts if so desired.
Freemasonry in the United States is involved in a wide range of charitable activities. Masonic charities support hospitals, medical research, scholarships, and disaster relief efforts. The Shriners Hospitals for Children and Scottish Rite Hospitals for Children, supported by the Masonic fraternity, provide specialized pediatric care regardless of a family's ability to pay. Additionally, many individual lodges and Masonic bodies engage in local community service projects, such as food drives, blood donation campaigns, and support for veterans. Freemasonry's charitable work aims to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the country.
Masonry teaches the importance of helping the less fortunate. It especially stresses care for the widows and orphans of Masons. Indeed, most Grand Lodges have within their jurisdiction a home for aged Masons, their wives and widows, and also a home for Masonic orphans. In the U.S.A. alone, all branches of Masonry combined provide over $3 MILLION of charitable aid PER DAY!
